Introduced in 1997, the Jeep Wrangler TJ was a major improvement over its predecessor. There were no significant changes in Jeep Wrangler TJ parts for the 1998 model year. In 1999 the climate controls were changed and vehicle weight was decreased thanks to a lighter frame. In 2000 there were further improvements to engine and drive train. No significant changes were made to the Wrangler TJ in 2001 or 2002. A complete reworking of the dash and seats as well as minor changes in the soft top occurred in 2003. The 1997 model year saw the advent of the Jeep Wrangler TJ. The Wrangler TJ features a coil spring suspension for better ride and handling, a larger standard fuel tank and the unmistakable seven slot grille. Engine sizes for a Wrangler TJ include a standard 2.5L 120hp 4 cylinder and an optional 4.0L 190hp V6. The Wrangler TJ interior features air bags and a more user friendly A/C system. The Jeep TJ front axle is a reverse cut Dana 30 and the rear axle is a Dana 35c and the Dana 44 is the optional rear axle.
