In 2007 the Jeep Wrangler JK and JK Unlimited were introduced to the public. The Wrangler JK was a replacement for the TJ model. The Wrangler JK is available in two versions; the short wheelbase 2-door and the longer wheelbase 4-door Unlimited. Both the Wrangler JK and Unlimited come in three trims: X, Sahara, and Rubicon. At 20 inches longer than the Wrangler JK, the Wrangler Unlimited is the only 4 door convertible available in the U.S. A Bestop Sunrider convertible soft top is standard equipment.
Both the Wrangler JK and Unlimited are equipped with a 3.8L V6 205hp engine and a standard 6 speed manual transmission. An optional 4 speed automatic transmission is also available. Both the Wrangler JK and Unlimited come with part time 4 wheel drive. The Wrangler JK and Unlimited come with removable half doors and plastic windows.
Safety features on the Wrangler JK and Unlimited include ABS brakes, dual front-side airbags, traction and stability control, and rollover protection. Engineered crush zones have earned the Wrangler JK the U.S. government’s highest rating for front impact crash testing - 5 stars.
