Universal Joints
A Universal Joint is a coupling that connects two rotating shafts allowing freedom of movement in all directions. In Jeep vehicles a universal joint allows the driveshaft to move up and down as the vehicle passes over bumps. There are two types of Universal Joints. One has a C-Clip that sits in a groove inside the yoke to hold the bearing caps in place. The other has a Spicer Snap Ring that sits in a groove outside the yoke to hold the bearing caps in place.
