4.2 Liter (258) AMC Engine Parts
Years: 1972-1990
The 258 cubic inch (4.2 L) "258" in-line six was manufactured from 1971 until 1990. It emphasized an 3.895 inch (98.93 mm) stroke and undersquare 3.75 inch (95.25 mm) bore. It was like the 199 and 232. Subsequent 258 models (starting with the 1980 model year for California AMCs, 1981 for California Jeeps and 1982 for all other applications) are furnished with AMC's CEC system.
